Team Sarcoma Aug 20

http://www.team-sarcoma.net/

This is a group that I was directed to.  It’s a great initiative to bring awareness to Sarcoma cancer.  I am DEFINITELY thinking about starting a team to get involved in this for next July.  I would love to raise money that will go towards Sarcoma research to find cure for a currently “incurable” cancer.

Please let me know if you would be interesting in joining the team, and I’ll look into getting our team set up for next year.  Their motto is “Sarcoma Knows No Borders” referring to body borders-this is so true.  This cancer divides and divides until it takes over, and our Faith is that God will intervene and His will be done to cure Kevin.

Check out the site, and let me know your thoughts.  Team Sarcoma here we come!

Based on the outpouring you’ve received here on the blog, on facebook and for the BBQ, I’m betting you could get a LOT of support if you started a team. I would be glad to be involved and help however I could.

Hi Brenda, what great news! Remember that you can plan any type of event. So do something that you and Kevin love, something that your community will enjoy as well. It doesn’t have to be sports-related. I’m thinking about doing some type of photo display and sale for TSI 2009, but I organized an online event this year and helped plan a picnic too.

For me, being involved in Team Sarcoma has been so meaningful. I can’t even explain it. There is something about being involved in a local event with your friends…but knowing that there are thousands of people around the world working to accomplish the same thing at the same time. It makes the local event SO special.

Another neat thing about TSI is that you can choose where the money goes. You can look into the great organizations that will be involved in 2009 if you need help deciding. I personally support the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative – I love that I can choose the type of grant I want the money to fund. At least 97% of the money I’ve raised for them has gone to peer-reviewed research grants in bone sarcomas, since that’s what I had.

I hope that this gives you something positive and hopeful to work toward during this difficult time. It amazes me that we still have the capacity to do such good when we are suffering ourselves. Life is beautiful.
