Nothing too much exciting happening here at the hospital. We are almost through day 4 of our hospital adventure. Kevin’s spirits are high, and he’s even laughing at a show on TV right now. We’ve added another Doctor to our list of experts: A Pulmonary doctor to assist with the growing fluid level in Kevin’s left lung. We hope to meet him/her tonight to get some answers on that.
They believe the possible bacteria infection around the heart is paracarditis (sp?) which can be treated with more anti-biotics just for an extended period of time. This was encouraging, as it is very secondary and “nothing major to worry about” compared to the main issue at hand: cancer.
Kevin continues to be on oxygen as needed for comfort, especially with the pneumonia and when he walks. He has severe swelling due to his lack of movement, so we’re going to get a Physical Therapist in to help with Kevin’s aching legs.
Everything is a go for the endoscopy and colonoscopy tomorrow for them to biopsy both areas that showed signs of cancerous/moving cells. These biopsies will then be sent to John Hopkins for more testing to finally determine the type of cancer that Kevin has. From that point, once all the infections are under control, they can FINALLY begin treatment! We are both anxious to be at that stage.
Tonight Kevin will have to go through some nasty prep for the upcoming tests, so please keep him in mind as his energy is low. He has enjoyed reading all of the cards. Thank you for them!
We appreciate all of you who are SELL SELL SELLING for the BBQ! Mucho appreciado!
We are still unsure when Kevin will be released, but it will definitely not be until late weekend or next week. I am still off work as, until we have some definite decisions made. My work is adjusting this schedule, but I am praying for leniency, and if not, for new opportunities to arise that are flexible.
Kevin’s work has been phenomenal, and we are greatful for their support and understanding.
Thank you all for what you are doing-prayers, thoughts, encouragement, donations, cards-they are all so greatly appreciated.
I thought I’d share a song that has been getting me through everytime I leave the hospital to get some errands done….
Third Day: Tunnel
I won’t pretend to know what you’re thinking
I can’t begin to know what you’re going through
I won’t deny the pain that you’re feeling
But I’m gonna try and give a little hope to you
Just remember what I’ve told you
There’s so much you’re living for
There’s a light at the end of this tunnel
There’s a light at the end of this tunnel
For you, for you
There’s a light at the end of this tunnel
Shinin’ bright at the end of this tunnel
For you, for you
So keep holdin’ on
You’ve got your disappointments and sorrows
You ought to share the weight of that load with me
Then you will find that the light of tomorrow
Brings a new life for your eyes to see
So remember what I’ve told you
There’s so much you’re living for
