In Our New “Home”s Aug 07

Just arrived in our new home at Johns Hopkins.  I’m feeling very overwhelmed by the mass of this hospital, and still figuring things out.  I’m very tired, so for now, just know Kevin is safe, in the care of some amazing doctors.  He will in tests all night long, so I’ll be napping in the waiting room tonight awaiting the results.  The doctors hope to have some answers by morning.  Pray I can get some rest and that my anxiety will lessen.  Pray for the doctors knowledge and care..Thank you.

    Dear Brenda and Kevin,
What a journey you are on. I can’t even begin to imagine. You all are specially in our prayers as you find what is best for Kevin’s treatment. I don’t recall meeting you Kevin but certainly would love to in the future. I pray God’s blessing upon you both as you travel this road together. May it strengthen your bond together as a couple and in the Lord.
    Love,
    Sandi and Martin

I’m glad to hear you both made it safely to Hopkins. You’re in my thoughts and prayers. I’ll keep watching the blog for updates to share with the rest of the staff here at LGH, who are also rooting for you.

Ask to talk to a social worker at the hospital. The ones in Duluth were amazing…they arranged for me (and our sons) to stay at a hotel at no cost to us. The first week we were at a different hotel at a special rate for family members of a patient (most of the hotels had a greatly reduced rate), but after the first week, we were offered the free room. I hope Johns Hopkins has a similar arrangement. I spent most of the first week sleeping in the waiting room and didn’t spend much time in the hotel, but fatigue finally set in and I needed a real bed!
Prayers are on their way every day…

We’re all glad to hear you BOTH got there safe! We’ll keep praying at LGH that things go well! I sincerely hope you get your housing figured out so you can get some rest Brenda–one of the first things I learned in Nursing school was that I can’t take care of others if I don’t get the rest I need for myself. When Kevin is more alert/not sedated, please tell him goodbye from all of us. I am sad to see you guys go but I’m sure it is what is best. God’s hand is in this transfer and I’m sure He has great things in store for you guys at Hopkins. LGH will miss you nonetheless! Hang in there–it sounds like they have a lot in store for Kevin…and fast. Love and prayers, Justin PS If either of you see David Bowie all dressed in black and he starts telling you about the babe with the power of voodoo you took a wrong turn and you need to go back the way you came. Somehow, I just know you will get that Labryinth reference and I hope it gives you both a chuckle.

I checked the blog as soon as Bob left. You both are in our thoughts and prayers, so know you are not alone. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” _Jesus I know that is hard to grasp when your heart is with you loved one, but that is what I will be praying for you today. May the riches of God be yours as you continue this journey. May your times of rest be more than sufficient and may the knowledge that our God is all knowing and all powerful be your comfort. Thank you for your updates they give us new insight into what God is doing and a better understanding of how to pray specifically for you.

    My Prayer:
God of creation we come to you with utterances that only the spirit can interpret. For our hearts are distressed and our anxieties great. May your presence in Kevin and Brenda’s life be an all consuming fire. Breath the breath of life renewed and cleanse Kevin’s body of all that is disease. We humbly pray for the salvation of many and the healing of one.
    Amen.
